Alan Dale Brewer

A celebration of the life of Alan Dale Brewer will be held Saturday, November 21, at 11:00 am in the Porterville Masonic Center, 2440 W. Henderson Ave. Alan was born June 9, 1939 in Bakersfield and passed away on October 31, 2015 in San Luis Obispo of a heart attack following a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly; daughters, Elaine Crozier of Bakersfield, Karen Hurst (son-in-law David) of Atascadero; grandchildren, Brett and Andrea of Bakersfield, Alan, Laura and Abigail Hurst of Atascadero; his mother, Margaret Brewer and brother, Tim Brewer of Bakersfield. Alan worked as an Ag Pest Control Advisor, first for FMC, Niagara Chemical Division and later as an independent consultant. He was a member and Past Master of Porterville Masonic Lodge, Tehran Shrine, past president of Terra Bella Lions Club and several professional organizations. He loved fishing, hunting and camping with his family and rooting for the Dodgers. He also loved and missed “his Sierras” after his move to Atascadero in 2012. He served 4 years in the Air Force in Texas and Goose Bay Labrador, after which he returned home and finished his education at Fresno State.
