

His parents were Sherrill and Jack T. Stover of Bethesda, Maryland. He grew up in California then left to
volunteer for the Air Force in Texas. Eager to serve his country, he enlisted before he came of age serving for a very short time until he was discovered and honorably discharged. He returned Home to Maryland in 1949 to re-join his family and new siblings John, Carolyn, William, and Sherrill.
In 1955 he followed his beloved cousin Bobby Carson to New York City working a multitude of jobs such as phone boy at the 21 Club, theater usher for Broadway shows, volunteer for political fundraising, and working alongside Bobby at Johnny’s restaurant in Midtown in the heyday of the 60's. In 1965 he went to work for the Museum of Modern Art where he was friendly with many artists. In 1969 he began working at Rockefeller Center Tishman Speyer becoming a member of Local 32BJ retiring after 30 years of service.
It was at the Rockefeller Center skating rink that Jimmy met his future wife Maritza with whom he remain married to for 47 years.
After retirement, James pursued his lifelong love of acting enrolling at HB studios in 2003 as well as acting workshops at the 92 St Y. He became a member of SAG and Aftra and found background work on Films such as Mona Lisa Smile and TV Shows such as The Sopranos and Law and Order.
He will be remembered for his kindness and gentleness, his love of his family and animals, his love of books and film, his charismatic smile, his sense of humor and his tender blue eyes.
He will be missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife Maritza, his daughter Sheila, son James Richard and his wife Jillian,
his cherished Grandchildren Evin, James Isaiah and Liam, his siblings Carolyn, William and Sherrill along
with his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday September 6, 2018 from 2-9pm at Thomas m. Quinn & Sons Funeral Home
