Lucy Ann Schafer was born May 25, 1951 at Prelate, Saskatchewan. Lucy left home at eight years of age to be involved with various programs for handicap people. She has lived in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Davidson and Gravelbourg. She was home for visits and brief stays at her parents and later with her brothers and their families. When she was younger, she enjoyed swimming and bowling. Lucy enjoyed watching TV, movies and listening to music. She will be missed by family, friends and caregivers, Sue Leclaire (who Lucy called mom) and her family, plus the family of Marie Schnieder. She was always quick to give hugs and was always happy to see family and friends.
Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Rose (Hammel) Schafer. Lucy is survived by two brothers Tony (Roberta) of Abbey, SK and James (Marilyn) of Saskatoon and their families.
Lucy passed away April 16, 2011 in the Foyer D’Youville, Gravelbourg, SK. Celebration of Lucy’s life was held at the Foyer D’Youville Chapel on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 with Father Maurice Minne officiating. Interment to follow in Lemsford Cemetery, Lemsford, SK. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
