David Evan Thomas of Grenfell, SK, formerly of Assiniboia, SK, passed away suddenly on April 26, 2016, at age 54. David was born March 11, 1962 in Assiniboia, SK. He grew up on the family farm in the Congress District and attended school in Assiniboia. He had a mixed farming operation for a few years, but then decided to go trucking and he loved it! He traveled many miles and always said that he had been in all four corners of North America. After an accident he tried many different things until he found his fit with the Department of Highways. David was a member of the Kinsmen and the Southern Independent Riders, which he enjoyed very much. Predeceased by his father Ivor, David is survived by his mother Nettie Thomas; partner Carol Vervalcke; sons Colby (Arlynne) Thomas and Lyndon (Shayleen) Thomas; daughters Daralyn (Cory) Jansen and Allyssa Hood-Thomas; grandchildren Reid, Emmett, Chloe and Austin; step-children Stephanie (Kris) Temple and Kevin Vervalcke; step-grandchildren Nash and Logan. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. George’s Parish Hall, Assiniboia. The Eulogy was given by Lawrence Ward. Urn Bearers were David’s sons Lyndon and Colby. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia. Donations were gratefully accepted for the Saskatoon Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Wa Wa Shrine Patient Transportation Fund.
