Amy Irene Stevenson, nee Stianson, of Burnaby, BC, formerly of Viceroy and Assiniboia, SK, passed away July 3, 2012 at age 92. Predeceased by her parents, Stian and Mathilda Stianson, her husband Angus Stevenson, two sons Gordon and Bill, and brothers Selmar and Clifford. Amy is survived by one daughter Elaine Stevenson; seven sons: Roy, Lloyd (Val), Cliff (Inez), Donald (Kathy), Glen, Elwood, Lyle (Sandi); 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, one sister Myrtle Franks, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Amy was born near Ormiston, SK, on June 23, 1920. After attending Wenaus School, Amy worked at various places near Assiniboia. On June 29, 1942, Amy married Angus Stevenson and along with Angus’ four sons, moved to Trail, BC. Over the years, six additional children were born into the family. Shortly after their move to Trail, they moved to Viceroy, SK, where Amy managed the telephone office and worked as an operator for 29 years. In 1956, Amy, Angus and family moved to the farm near Landscape where they resided until Angus’ passing in 1992 after which Amy moved to Assiniboia. Amy also worked at Pioneer Lodge and continued to clean many homes and businesses in Assiniboia after her retirement.
Funeral Service was held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK. Mr. Michael Hassett presided. Pallbearers were: Chad Stevenson, Jarrod Stevenson, Darrel Stianson, Norman Stianson, Randy Irvin and Lloyd Coldwell. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
