It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Red Johnson on March 3, 2017. Red was born July 29, 1936 at Bengough, SK. He is survived by his wife Katherine (62 years of marriage), children: Roger (Terry), Randy (Kathy), Connie (Mark), David (Selena), and daughter-in-law Melody, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, sister Doreen (Floyd), sisters-in-law Margaret (Earl), Audrey (Lawrence), and many nieces and nephews. Red married Katherine (Toner), the love of his life on August 20, 1954. They settled on the farm south of Ogema, SK. He enjoyed all aspects of farming, both grain and cattle, and later as a crop insurance assessor. In his younger years, he loved to play ball and curl. After moving from the farm to Ogema he set up shop as an implement dealer. Red always loved spending time with family and woodworking and puttering around the garden. In 1964 Alfred was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and was happy to discuss the Bible with friends, family and neighbors. Red is predeceased by an infant daughter, son Calvin, and siblings Caroline, Earl, Lawrence, Marie, Raymond, Mervin, and Merlin. At this time the family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Bengough Care Home, who cared for our dear husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Service for Red was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Bengough, SK on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Richard Kessler speaker. Interment at the Ogema Cemetery.
