Obituary of Rose Marie Bateman Jennings
Jennings, Rose Marie Bateman, 77, of Ashland, VA went to be with her Lord on November 14, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Peggy Rash. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Frank L. Jennings, Jr., sister Dorothy Stewart (Charles) of Georgia, and brother Mark Bryant of New York. Children, Dorothy Chandler (Russ) of Ashland, Gary Jennings (Anne Gail) of Richmond, and Carole Jennings of Colorado. Grandchildren, Danielle Jennings (Price), Katie Jennings, Will Chandler (Liz), Stacey Gibson (Josh), and Justin Schruijer. Great Grandchildren, Aiden and Annabelle Chandler, Karen and Evelyn Gibson. Niece and Nephew Mark Rash (Vicki) and Wanda Koon (Brian), along with many other devoted friends and family members. Rose will be remembered for her generous heart, her Christian faith, and the many lives she touched. She was an inspirational member of Slash Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school (60 years) and Children's Sermon. Throughout her life, Rose served her Community in the capacity of: chairman of the Hanover County Cannery Board, Volunteer for the American Cancer Society, organized many High-Stepper senior citizen trips, along with volunteering for the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Patrol, and a host of other humanitarian and volunteer organizations. Funeral arrangements include, Visitation on Sunday November 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland Chapel. Services will be held on Monday November 18th at 11 a.m. at Slash Christian Church (11353 Mount Hermon Rd, Ashland) followed by Interment at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
