Paul was born in Scottsville, Virginia in 1932. He served our country in the US Marines during the Korean War from 1950-1952. Paul retired after many years of serving his community as a Maintenance Supervisor at Ashland Convalescent Center. Paul also dedicated many years to First Baptist Church - Ashland.
Paul was the proud owner of many antique cars, his first restoration project was a Model T. He enjoyed showcasing his cars in parades and community events. As a well known member of the Ashland community he enjoyed bartering at yard sales and breakfast meetings with “The Old Timers” at restaurants around town. He was known for always trying to entertain those around him with jokes and antics.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Mechanicsville and honored to serve his country.
Left to cherish his memory is Betty R Scruggs; children, Paula L Winkis (Edward) and Paul “Les” Scruggs II; grandchildren, Tre Scruggs, Kali Halterman, Alex Winkis, and Aiden Winkis; great-grandchildren; and brother, Boyd E. Scruggs Jr.
Paul will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Amelia. A Memorial Service with Veteran honors will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 2PM at the VFW in Mechanicsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mechanicsville VFW, 7168 Flag Lane, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
