He was born to Margaret and Roy Thomas on November 12, 1946 in Richmond, VA. Eddie, a retired maintenance superintendent, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara Knuckles Thomas, his sons Charles Edward Thomas Jr. and Chad Eric Thomas (Charlotte) and his daughter Carla Thomas Dunets (Bogdan). He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren: Codi Thomas Gurnsey, Charles Edward Thomas Ill, Savannah Claire Thomas, Caroline Olivia Thomas, Piper Jean Thomas, Anastasia Ruby Dunets, Sophia Reagan Dunets, Kamilla Ronan Dunets and Peter Roman Dunets, and his great grandchildren: Carsten Elnore Thomas and Bryson James Gurnsey. He is also survived by his brother Norman Earl Farmer (Betty Jean).
Eddie enjoyed hunting, fishing and, in his earlier years, coaching youth football for the Ashland Youth Association.
A gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 P.M. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA.
