Helen was born February 24, 1939, in Caledonia, Ohio and was the daughter of Francis Lyon and Lucille Lyon. She was a loving wife of 44 years to her late husband, George a mother of four, and a wonderful grandmother; all roles that she cherished in life. Her family was the center of her world and she made certain that they knew that. She began her career at General Motors in 1978, and retiring 26 years later. She worked as a foreman and received many awards for her hard work and dedication, including the Twin Award. Helen was a farm girl at heart; gardening, canning, baking, and feeding fish in her pond were a few of the things she enjoyed. As well as she loved being in nature and loved her kitty cats. She was always searching for a new antique to add to her collection as she had many. Helen was a huge Elvis fan.
Helen leaves behind to cherish many fond memories her children, Sam (Robin) Stankovich, John Stankovich and Mary (Stankovich) Kennedy; her grandchildren, Joe (Heather) Stankovich, John (Kristi) Stankovich, Ashley (Mike) Youssef, Amanda (Kyle Frieberg) Pekarovic, Cody (Kelsey) Kennedy and Kyle (Lena Watson) Stankovich; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, William Lyon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Francis A. Lyon; mother, Lucille Hawk-Lyon Gantz; her husband, George Stankovich; her son; Mark Stankovich; her twin brother, Harold Lyon; brother, Howard Lyon; and nephews, Doug and Jim Lyon.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Wappner Funeral Directors-Ashland, 308 Claremont Ave. Pastor Matthew Pond will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to S.T.O.P.
