Joe,72, was born to Jacob and Primrose Bott in Brush, Colorado. He was raised with his siblings, Carol and Jim, in Brush. He graduated from high school in 1966 and was drafted into the army in 1967. His long time home was in Lakewood, Colorado, with his wife, Robin, where they raised their son, Michael, and daughter, Ryan. Joe lived with with Alzheimer’s Disease for seven years and spent the last two years of his life at the Colorado State Veterans’ Living Center Fitzsimons in Aurora, Colorado. COVID 19 took his life on May 7, 2020.
During his time in Vietnam Nam Joe served in the army with the 25th Division, 27th Infantry (the “Wolfhounds”), 2nd Battalion, Company C, mortar platoon. Joe always thought of the Wolfhounds as his brothers, those killed in country and those who made it home. Shortly after being discharged from the army Joe married Robin, his high school sweetheart. He attended vocational school for two years to become an auto mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for almost 40 years and could literally fix anything.
Joe was a devoted father to his and Robin’s son, Michael , and daughter, Ryan Eun Ja. He loved his children dearly. At the time of his death he and Robin had been married 51 years.
Joe will be remembered for his loving kindness, his generosity and probably most of all for his extremely funny sense of humor. He loved spending time with family, gardening, riding his Harley Davidson, live music, any and all rocks, traveling anywhere any time. Joe made many lasting friendships over the years, and these relationships put light and happiness into his life.
Joe is survived by his wife, Robin, daughter Ryan and son-in-law,Dave, and their two daughters, Joe’s special jewels, and son Michael and daughter-in-law Melissa, and their two handsome sons. He’s also survived by his sister, Carol, and brother, Jim, who were always loving participants in Joe’s life. Joe so loved Robin’s sister and brother and their families. Joe is also survived by his only aunt, Earlene. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, an uncle and cousin.
All of Joe’s family would like to extend love and gratitude to the staff of the Colorado State Veterans’ Home for their exemplary care and for providing a comfortable home for Joe at the end of his life.
