Edward Joseph Meyer Sr., age 89, of Springfield, Missouri formerly of Arnold, MO passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to the late Charles Francis and Maria Anna (nee Kirn) Meyer; beloved husband for 58 years to the late Joan Alice Meyer; loving father of Joan (Gary) McLarry of Springfield, MO, Ed (Michele) Meyer of St. Croix, VI and the late Bob Meyer; loving grandfather of Lauren (Gavin) Taylor of Ozark, MO, Ben (fiance Kate Lindsey) McLarry of Nixa, MO and Erin (Chris) Wiser of Battlefield, MO; great grandfather of Corbin and Caden Taylor; dear brother of Dorothy (Tony) Budlond of Carmel, CA, Shirley Knorpp of St. Louis, MO, Raymond (Sondra) Meyer of Menlo Park, CA and the late Hubert Meyer, Wilbert Meyer, Adolph Meyer, Francis Meyer and Rosemary Chartrand; dear uncle and friend to many.
Ed served in the Army at the end of the Korean War. When he returned home he married Joan. They lived most of their life in Arnold, MO. Ed worked at Frank Adams as a welder, he earned the name Boo Boo while he learned the trade. They bought land in Owensville and it became the Meyer Christmas Tree Farm. He would often transport himself back to the land the last few years. Inventing was his passion he was very proud of his "Easy Berry Cleaner" and the other creations he welded. Ed stayed up on current events and the stock market. He will be remembered as a friendly, positive and happy person. Ed didn't know a stranger.
A visitation for Edward will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd, Arnold, MO 63010. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 21, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. David Catholic Church, 2334 Tenbrook Rd., Arnold, MO 63010. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan, Jefferson Barracks, MO 63125. Memorial Donations in Ed's Honor may be made to ALS or Parkinson's Foundation.
