Warren ‘Butch’ Wesley Avery, 67, passed away July 30, 2010 in Stanwood, WA. He was born to Warren Malcolm and Lucille Avery August 17, 1942 in Bruce, WI. He moved with his family to the Northwest where he graduated from LaConner High School in 1960. Butch worked as a mechanic for Twin City Foods and Stokley Van Camp retiring in 2010 after 31 years. He enjoyed fishing hunting, bowling, woodworking, and cooking. Butch loved to watch baseball and football. He belonged to the Eagles and Elks clubs. Butch was a loving husband and father. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christmas morning he would treat the extended family with a home cooked breakfast. Preceding him in death was his father Warren Malcolm Avery in 1976, his mother Lucille Ione Benge in 1999 and his first wife Nancy R. Jenkins-Knapp. Surviving him is his loving wife of 27 years Rosemarie Almarette Avery of Stanwood; children, Russell (Ana) Avery of Mt. Vernon, WA, Ray (Katie) Avery of Sedro Woolley, WA, Jake (Sabrina) Reinard of Everett, WA, Kathy (David) Ross of Plain, WA, Kelly (Darryn) Meltzer of Arlington, WA; siblings, Joan (John) Church of Mt. Vernon, Darlene St. John of Burlington, WA, Vickie (Tom) Hall of Lynnwood, WA, Doug (Carol) Avery of LaConner, WA, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Skagit Valley Gardens – Garden Café, 18923 Peter Johnson Rd., Mt. Vernon, WA, 98273.
Memorial donations may be made to the Stanwood Food Bank.
