Sue Ellen Johnston-Wasmund 79 of Arlington, Washington passed away on December 3, 2024 at 6:46 p.m. Holding the hands of her daughters Taral and Bambi and surrounded by her loving family. A woman of incredible strength, Sue fought hard to stay with those she cherished so deeply. Leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.
Born January 7, 1945 in Watertown, South Dakota to John and Shirley Johnston. Sue grew up in Seattle Washington and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963.
A woman of boundless love and strength. Her arms were always open and her hugs somehow made everything better. She was always there for us with her unconditional love and her huge heart. Her passing has left an unfathomable void in each of us.
Sue dedicated her life to her husband and her family, often caring for her grandkids while their parents worked. She loved hosting sleepovers filled with movie nights, popcorn, card games, and crafts. Her joy in life was her family, her dedication and love will be forever remembered.
Sue’s hobbies reflected her lively spirit. She loved playing bingo and often convincing her daughters and grandkids to join her. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and shopping, everything bought was “a treasure” After shopping with grandkids Sue would say “let’s go show grandpa our treasures” Sue took pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming home. Her upbeat and contagious personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She leaves behind her husband of 30 years William Wasmund, the love of her life, As she would so lovingly say to everyone they met. She also leaves behind her son Brad (Shannon) Hanshaw of Arlington Wa, Daughters Taral (Darrin) Cope of Arlington Wa, Bambi (Nick) Olason of Vancouver Wa And her Bonus daughter Kaja Wasmund of Arlington, Wa. 17 grandchildren: Casey, Gregory, Michael, Brandon, Cheyenne, Kylie, Gage, Cole, Cameron, Bryce, Aiden, Jaxon, Harrison, Amber, Conner, Ian and Leesie …9 great grandchildren Rachael, Mya, Olivia, Elizabeth, Caiden, Bexli, Brison, Blaekli, and baby Gene. Her four younger siblings Valerie (Cher) Mascarenas of Granite Falls WA, Jack (Mikalyn) Johnston of Olympia WA, Scott (Kelly) Johnston of Novato CA and April Stephens of Bothell WA as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family who will continue to carry her love and memory forward.
Sue was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by her loving parents John and Shirley Johnston, Aunt Vivian and Uncle Steve Prater, her beloved grandma Dot, and her brother in law Paul Stephens.
While we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace. We are forever grateful for the love she gave us and the legacy she leaves behind. Momma, you were our everything. We will miss you more than words can express. but we know you will always be with us, in our hearts, our thoughts, and in every loving memory we hold.
So Deeply missed and never forgotten.
