Richard W. Danielson, 83, passed away October 19, 2014 in Mount Vernon, WA. He was born to Andrew and Bridgit Danielson December 27, 1930 on the Stillaguamish River in Hazel, WA. Richard graduated from Darrington High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force after graduating and returned to the logging industry where he worked for 33 years, most of it as a log scaler. Richard was a life member of the Elk’s lodge. He loved to hunt, fish, pick berries, dig clams, and work in his garden. He enjoyed canning and freezing his produce and taught his children follow this example. Richard also enjoyed baking and in December the family would gather in Monroe to bake swede bread as well as Christmas cookies for family and neighbors. He was an excellent dancer, going dancing whenever he could. Richard was a good father, husband, uncle and friend who work with others to build kindred spirit. Preceding him in death was his siblings, Joe Danielson, Hazel Gladsjo, Cary Szekly and sister-in-law Shirley Perry. Surviving Richard is his loving wife of 65 years, Lily Montine Danielson of Mount Vernon, son Dennis (Lanakila) Danielson of Tacoma, grandchildren Alisa, Peter, brother-in-law Dale Perry and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014, 1 p.m. at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 1272 State Route 530 NE, Darrington, WA 98241. Memorial donations may be made to the Skagit Valley Kidney Center, P.O. Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98273, where Richard was a patient for 5 years.
