Martha “Gertie” Gertrude Cope, 89, of Darrington, WA passed away December 1, 2011 in Arlington, WA. She was born to William and Mellie Gibbs February 15, 1922 in Cullowhee, NC. Gertie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and her pet dog, but most important to her was her family, especially the grandkids. She was a faithful, creative loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 64 years, Robert Cope. Gertie is survived by her sons, Lewis Cope, Gerald Cope, Billy Cope all of Darrington; daughters, Mary Alice Richmond of Bothell, WA, Edna Mae Lee of Lake Stevens, WA; sisters, Lillie Mae Valentine, Annie Hooks, 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Monday, December 5, 2011, 12-5 p.m. at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington, WA 98223. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 12:30 p.m. at Darrington Cemetery, 1324 SR 530 NE, Darrington, WA.
