Jolene Kay Amend (Confair), 64 years old, of Marysville, Washington, passed away on November 7, 2024 at the University of Washington Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 24, 1960 in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, to the late Raymond and Gladys Confair (Halstead).
Jolene graduated from Jersey Shore Area High School in 1978. She held many different positions, including homemaker, Woolrich, Weis, and Lakewood School District. Jolene lived in Jersey Shore until 1999, then relocated to Marysville, Washington. There, she married Mickel Amend on February 18, 2000 where she continued to raise her family. In addition, Jolene had a beautiful passion for creating and crafting. She spent many years creating wooden décor alongside her father in his garage. She continued crafting throughout the years, creating things with and for her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Jolene loved gardening with her husband, Mickel and made our world beautiful inside and out.
Jolene was a beloved wife, daughter, mother and Meme to her ten grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of twenty-four years, Mickel Amend. In addition, she is survived by her children, Heather (Timothy) Lape of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania; Shanna (Brian) Rice of Palmyra, New York; Janelle (Travis) Berwald of Friday Harbor, Washington; Bryan Harstead of Burlington, Washington; and step-son Jesse (Mandy) Amend of Corona, California. Her grandchildren: Alyssa and Malaya Amend; Aiden Lape; Gabriella, Alexander and Julianne Rice, Wyatt and Amelia Berwald; and Eliana and Josiah Harstead. She is also survived by her siblings, Marilyn (Terry) Garner, Ronald (Carolyn) Confair, Donna (Lee) Henderson and many nieces and nephews, with an extended family.
Jolene held an amazing joy and happiness in life. She believed and followed Jesus and knew with all of her being, her final home would be with her Heavenly Father. She shared her faith with all those around her and encouraged her family and friends daily to lean in to Jesus for strength and hope. The love Jolene had for her family and her grandchildren was immeasurable, no matter the distance. She and Mickel traveled often to visit and spend time with her family, traversing across the country and to California. Her family was her life; she cherished her grandchildren and created wonderful memories with them that will always be remembered. Jolene had an infectious smile and wild laugh. She truly brought joy to any place she entered and made friends where she went. We will always cherish her fun personality and joyful spirit.
Her immediate family shared time together privately in Marysville, Washington, to honor remembering Jolene’s life. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring of 2025, in her hometown of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. She loved planting and gardening and all things that brought new life and beauty. With her new life in Jesus, we will celebrate her life in the most beautiful season for newness and wholeness.
