George Harold Carlson, 100, of Arlington, WA passed away March 24, 2010 in Stanwood, WA. He was born to George and Amanda Carlson April 26, 1909 in Minneapolis, MN. Harold graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1929. He drove school bus at 16 years-old for the Granite Falls School District. At his passing he was the oldest surviving graduate of Granite Falls High School. Harold worked for Container Corporation of America for 30 years, retiring in 1973 and then moving to Arlington, WA. He was still driving his car at 99 years-old. Preceding Harold in death was his wife of 60 years, Ellen (Wangsmo) Carlson in 2007, brother Herb Carlson and sister-in-law Dorothy Carlson. Surviving him are his sisters-in-law, Ester Teague, Ruth Yost, Sonja (Bill) Hoggarth and 21 nieces and nephews who will truly miss their “Uncle Harold”. The family expressed their special thanks to Dixie Baker of Service Alternatives for her wonderful care the last 2 years, Tim and Claudia Teague, Pam and Duane Gleave who helped “Uncle Harold” stay in his home.
A memorial service will be held Friday April 9, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington, WA 98223.
