Esther Marie Ruthruff was born July 4, 1920, in Riverhurst, Saskatchewan, Canada, to John and Sarah Atkinson. She was the twelfth of seventeen children. She moved with her family to Michigan at age two and lived there until she was seventeen years old. She moved to Arlington, Washington in 1937, to live with her father. In Arlington she met and married the love of her life Clayton Ruthruff. They were wed on December 12, 1940.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clayton and her daughter Maria Espe. She leaves behind her daughter Alice Duston and husband Bob of Arlington, Washington; her daughter Jeanie Glandon of Entiat, Washington; and her son Ron Ruthruff and wife Linda, of Seattle, Washington. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 8 great, great grandchildren.
After the death of her husband, Esther became a nursing assistant at Regency Care Center at Arlington to support her little boy. She took a job and found her calling; spending twenty years loving and caring for old people. She loved all her grandchildren and loved quilting.
Esther's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Arlington Regency Care Center for caring and loving our mom and grandmother for the last few years.
