Edna Elda Sutherland

Edna Sutherland, 88, our beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021 in Arlington, WA following a protracted battle with ovarian cancer. After graduating from high school in Wheeler, OR, Edna took an office position at a local shingle mill. There, she met the love of her life, her late husband Eric (Cal) Sutherland. Life's journeys took them inland to Scappoose, OR in 1960 and then, finally north to Arlington, WA in 1968. Edna loved knitting, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She was a fierce competitor when playing card or word games and, to her opponent's chagrin, she won most of the time! Edna is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Tom) Graham, Brenda (Bob) Fletcher, Meleea (Jim) Parker, Pamela (Chad) Veurink, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all! No services are planned at this time due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to the Arlington United Church or the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. Special thanks to the many caregivers, friends, and fellow church members who supported her with their time, energies, and other kindnesses over the years.
