

Dorothy Irene Carlson, 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family June 16, 2012 in Arlington, WA. She was born June 26, 1916 in Page, ND. At age 3 she traveled with her family to the Bryant, WA area where she was raised and graduated from Arlington High School. Dorothy was a member of many local clubs including the Arlington Garden Club, Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Association, Bryant Birthday Club, and a lifetime member of the Bryant Grange. She enjoyed traveling both in the U.S. and abroad. Dorothy also loved to cook, read, garden, arrange flowers and do various types of needle work. Family was a very important part of her life as she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who instilled confidence, independence and a work ethic in her offspring. Preceding her in death was her husband of 47 years, Carl O. Carlson in 1984; siblings, Frank Olander and Andrew Olander. Dorothy is survived by her children, Gerald (Janet) Carlson of Arlington, Beverly (Brian) Coates of Arlington, Barbara (Duane) Johnson of Brush Prairie, WA; sisters, Inez Kuhnhausen of Arlington, Margaret Brekhus of Arlington; grandchildren, Erika (Don) Coghill, Kristin (Luke) Bethman, Brad Johnson, Bridget Carlson; great-grandchildren, Alex Coghill and Nicholas Coghill. Viewing will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012, 3-5 p.m. and Thursday, June 21, 2012, 10-12 p.m. at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington, WA 98223. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Arlington Municipal Cemetery, 20310 – 67th Ave. NE, Arlington. Memorial donations may be made to the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Association.
