Suzanne Faubert Briguglio, 90, of McLean, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, November 8, 2024, after a short illness. She was surrounded by her family and two treasured caregivers.
Suzanne was born in Baltimore on September 27, 1934, and raised in Glen Burnie, MD. She married Philip Briguglio, MD and settled in Virginia where they raised their family. Her beloved husband predeceased her in death by seventeen years. Suzanne is survived by her three daughters, Laura Bilodeau (Peter) of Stuart, FL, Jeanne Crawford (Richard) of McLean, VA, Elizabeth Fleming (Scott) of Charlotte, NC, her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
Suzanne’s devout faith guided her throughout life. Her Catholic education brought her to Washington, DC. She graduated from The Academy of the Holy Cross College Preparatory High School in 1952 and received her BA in French Literature in 1956 from Dunbarton College. Suzanne also spent a semester at the Sorbonne in Paris and relished her immersion in French culture.
Suzanne was an active member of Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, MD for over 40 years and Jupiter Hills Club, Tequesta, FL for 34 years. She was an avid golfer and played a competitive game of bridge. Suzanne proudly spoke French, the language of her paternal heritage, and regarded Latin as a fundamental aspect of her classical education. At her dining table, every guest felt the warmth of her generosity and savored the delicious tastes of her culinary skills. Throughout her 49 years of marriage to Philip, their fun-loving and adventurous spirits took them to numerous corners of the world. Suzanne lived life with a joy she brought to everyone in her company, with the elegant ease with which she carried herself always. Her intellect, wit and grace could light up a room.
A pillar in her community, Suzanne tirelessly advocated for the Hearing and Speech Center at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, having served on its board of directors for over 20 years. Today, the center is one of the nation’s most respected medical institutions for the hearing impaired.
Beyond these achievements and blessings of a well-lived life, Suzanne’s extraordinary character was perhaps most evident in the quiet acts of love she extended to many in need throughout a lifetime. With each of the souls she lifted with compassion and fortitude, Suzanne made a difference in this world.
Mass will be offered at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA. Interment is private.
