Born in El Paso, Texas in 1966, Lucinda lived most of her childhood in the Mid-west with her mother, Lucinda Morehead Garrett. After graduating high school in Manhattan, Kansas, Lucinda graduated Randolph Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia. While studying there, she made life-long friends and met her future husband, Robert “Bob” Ivy, who attended the neighboring Virginia Military Institute. After graduation, Lucinda then briefly moved to Washington, DC where she lived with several of her friends from college and worked at the Princeton Review.
In 1990, she moved to Texas to attend Baylor University Graduate School and be closer to her then fiancé, Bob, who she married that August. Lucinda graduated from Baylor with a master’s degree in public policy and then moved with Bob to various assignments in the Army where she routinely taught college classes for the University of Maryland.
After completing a European tour in 1997, Lucinda and Bob attended the Defense Language Institute to study Chinese. Afterward, she and Bob moved to the Washington, DC area and she started an over 20-year career with the United States Intelligence Community.
The year 2000 brought the birth of her daughter, Lora Wallis.
Lucinda traveled extensively throughout the world, especially in Europe, Central America, and East Asia. From 2013 to 2015, the Ivy Family lived in Beijing, People’s Republic of China where Bob served as the United States Energy Attaché.
She was a member of The Falls Church Anglican and enjoyed the frequent classes on Christianity taught by its clergy.
Lucinda is survived by her husband Bob, her daughter Lora, and her mother Lucinda.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Congressional Care Ministries at The Fall Church Anglican or the Lucian E Morehead Endowed Scholarship at Baylor University.
