IN THE CARE OF
Murphy Funeral Homes
Kenneth Lackey, 71, Arlington, VA, passed away on March 31, 2024, due to complications from Parkinson’s and a stroke.
Ken was a beloved husband, father, cousin and friend. He will be remembered for his absolute pride in his children, his warmth and kindness, his enthusiasm for sports, his knowledge of history, his love of a true Maryland Crab Cake and (almost) all things Old Bay. The strength and resilience he showed fighting Parkinson’s for 12 years was inspiring to everyone.
Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, he graduated from Baltimore Poly Tech High School (‘71) and the University of Pennsylvania (‘75). At both Poly & U Penn his fondest memories, dearest friends, greatest stories and pride were from his years as goalie for the Poly & U Penn lacrosse teams.
As an adult he rediscovered his ice skates, playing many years of late night men’s league ice hockey, as of course, a goalie.
Forever the avid sports fan, he suffered and celebrated through seasons of his beloved Orioles, Capitals, Ravens and Nationals.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Laura (Harrison) & Henry Franklin “Frank” Lackey.
He is survived by his wife Nancy (Huthansel), children Frank and Madeline, and his cousins.
Visitation will be held on April 6, 3:00-6:00 pm, at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd Arlington, VA 22203.
If you would like to honor Ken’s memory, please consider making a donation to a local youth sport team or association, a local Girl Scout troop, or The Michael J Fox Foundation, https://www.michaeljfox.org,
