June Jessup Batcheller Vogt was born on June 26th, 1960 and passed away on November 26th, 2019 after a long and brave fight with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Robert Alan Vogt, mother of Audrey Baylies Batcheller, Ashley Marie Vogt, Brittney Vogt Fortner and husband, George, Lindsey Ann Vogt, Robert Paul Vogt and wife, Lindsey, and sister to Julia Jessup Tijerina and husband, Alfredo.
June was born in Fort Ord, CA, but spent most of her life in Arlington where she made wonderful lifelong friends at McKinley Elementary, Swanson Middle, and Yorktown High School. She also graduated with a Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration from Marymount University. She had an extremely successful career in the financial services industry, most recently as a Chief Compliance Officer at E*TRADE Financial.
June had many hobbies over the years, but they all focused on her phenomenal ability to bring people together. She was a cheerleader at Yorktown and very involved in the planning of the class reunions, as she stayed in close contact with so many. June was also always the first to organize food for the players (and happy hour for the parents) at Audrey’s volleyball tournaments. Despite being the daughter of an Army Officer, one of her more recent accolades was “Queen of the Tailgate” in the Class of 1978 plot at Navy football games. June and her family were also Washington Capitals season ticketholders for many years. She felt so lucky to get to root them on to a Stanley Cup victory in 2018, as well as to watch the Washington Nationals win the World Series just a few months ago. June will be missed dearly by so many, but will be with us every time we hit the dance floor at a party or raise a glass of wine to cheers.
The visitation will be December 13, 2019, 5 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA and a celebration of life, “June’s Dance Party”, will be held December 14, 2019, 12 to 3 p.m. at Army Navy Country Club, 1700 Army Navy Dr., Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at https://themmrf.org/get-involved/donate-to-the-mmrf/ so that others may continue the fight.
