He enjoyed the warmth of family and friends visits in recent months. Born on April 5, 1930, in Washington, D.C., John lived in Virginia for the entirety of his life. He lived a life of grace, dignity, and honor with a smile always on his face.
John was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Pulliam.
He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Aycock and Pamela Ficco, and his son-in-law Mike Ficco. He also was blessed with five grandchildren, Gena Dawson, April Aycock, Lindsay Fattahi, Shawna Ostendorf, Michael Ficco, and his six great-grandchildren, Jayce McCann, Bailey and Cooper Dawson, Payten Ficco, Aubrey Fattahi, and Michelle Ostendorf.
John was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. John enjoyed golf, classic cars, being on the water, and spending time with his family and friends, and was a lifelong member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge.
Services will be held at Murphy’s Funeral Home in Arlington, VA on December 1st with a viewing to begin at 10:00 AM and the funeral service to begin at 12:00 PM. All are welcome.
