Janice Mary Pieterek

Janice Mary Pieterek, 83, passed away peacefully with family by her side in Arlington Virginia, on Monday April 24, 2023. She was born in Kankakee, IL on November 5, 1939. As a child, her family moved to Milton and there she lived until 2016. Janice attended Milton Union High School and graduated in 1957. Nursing school in Fond du Lac, WI followed, where she earned her degree and certification in Licensed Practical Nursing. During her career she worked in the Rock County Healthcare System. On February 14, 1964, Janice married the love of her life, Richard “Luba” W. Pieterek in Kankakee, IL. Janice loved to vacation and fish at their cabin in Valley Jct. WI. Her favorite past times included cheering on the Green Bay Packers, cooking, bingo and attending with great enthusiasm her daughters’ and granddaughters’ high school, travel, and college softball games. The Cranberry Festival was a favorite event each fall. She was also a very accomplished spinner of exotic furs (including her own dog’s fur), knitter and crocheter. Janice had a love for travel and spent many warm winters in Santa Barbara and New Orleans with her daughters’ families. Mardi Gras celebrations, along with music and culture of New Orleans was a favorite highlight. She was a loving mother and grandmother, survived by three daughters; Monica (Ken) Louis of Afton, WI, Lorna (Dave) Telvick of Santa Barbara, CA, and Polly (Chris) Bartz of Arlington, VA; four granddaughters: Mara Dewitz, Audrey, Claire, and Bridget Bartz and great-grandsons: Kyran and Kyree Pryor. She was preceded in death by her husband Luba, parents Glenn and Arletta Jessup and brother, Caryl Jessup and great grand-daughter Kalaya Dewitz.
