Janet Meyer Smith

Of Falls Church, Virginia died on November 30, 2022. Born on May 17, 1930, in Melrose, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late John and Eleanor Meyer. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Warner Smith, and is survived by her children, Janene (Thomas) Mitchell of Chevy Chase, Thomas (Marcia) of Vienna, Randolph (Elizabeth) of Gainesville, Jennifer (Mark) Compton of Oakton, and Jefferson of Arlington, and nine grandchildren, Colin, Curtis, Eric, Eleanor, Grayson, Connor, Garrett, Callie and Madeline. She is survived by siblings Donald, William, John (her twin), Ann and Mark, and predeceased by siblings Mary and James. She also is survived by her second husband Louis Anthony Crescioli and his seven children, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Janet attended the College of St. Teresa and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business before moving to Washington, D.C. in 1952. She worked for the Automotive Safety Foundation and later the Allstate Foundation before raising five children full-time. She served as a local election officer and as an active, longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross, Historic Alexandria Docents, a local retirement community, hospital, schools, and her church. She was also an avid doll collector and a member of national and local doll associations as well as the Northern Virginia Antique Arts Association.
Viewing will be at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA, Friday, December 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, December 10, at 11:30 a.m., St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3305 Glen Carlyn Rd, Falls Church, VA, interment at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a financial or blood donation to the American Red Cross.
