Edwin (Ed) Earl Malloch passed away January 14, 2023 in Jacksonville, FL. He was the beloved son of Honor and George Malloch. Ed graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1964 and the University of Maine in 1968. He taught High School Science for three years before joining the army during the Vietnam War. He was trained to be an Oncology technician and spent his career working at Walter Reed Army Hospital. He served his country for 20 years retiring as the Army's youngest Sergeant Major. Following his retirement, he continued working for several years at Walter Reed. Ed loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved reading, golf, deep sea fishing on his father's fishing party boat, and running. His love of steamers and all seafood was well known by all who loved him. In 2020, Ed moved with his wife, Sherrie to Jacksonville to be closer to their young grandchildren who they adored. Survivors include his loving children, Eric (Mandy) Malloch, Michael Malloch, and Sabrina (Philip) Rothberg, his grandchildren, Kelsey McClelland, Zehava Rothberg, Serafina Rothberg, Koren Rothberg, and Gavri Rothberg, his brother George (Linda) Malloch, his sister Priscilla (John) Ford, his nephew Chris (Sonya) Malloch and their children Mikaela, Brandon, Taylor, and Aaron. Ed & Sherrie were beloved and will be missed by their family and friends, especially those at Shenandoah Crossing, and all blessed to know them. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Sherrie who was his best friend and the love of his life. Sherrie passed on April 18, 2021. Sherrie was born in Dallas, Texas to David N. Payne Sr. and Geraldine Nichols on November 12th, 1954. She graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, MD. She worked for Exxon- Mobil headquarters in Fairfax, VA for over 20 years. She was loved by all who met her through her love of making jokes, her infectious laughter, and her compassion for others. She loved cooking, eating, and watching sports. She and Ed moved to Jacksonville in 2020 from Chantilly, VA to be closer to her young grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kamran Behbahani. She met her husband, Ed through their mutual friends and they were inseparable until she passed 2 years ago in 2021. She is survived by her daughter Sabrina Behbahani Rothberg (Philip), her grandchildren Koren, Gavri, and Zehava, and Serafina, her step-sons Eric and Michael Malloch, her step-granddaughter Kelsey T. McClelland, her sister Sandra R. Koval, and her nephews Scott Harris (Donalyn) and Chris Harris (Leigh) and their families. A celebration of Ed & Sherrie's life will be held at Murphy Funeral Home (Arlington, VA) on August 8th, 2023 at 10 AM. A light reception will follow the service. Ed & Sherrie will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. From the funeral home we will proceed to Arlington National Cemetery to arrive no later than 12:15. The graveside service will take place at 1 PM and will last no longer than 30 min. All guests should arrive at ANC no later than 12:15 PM and have a Driver's license or other form of ID to enter the grounds. Please stay in your vehicles and line up. Please bring an umbrella to shield from rain or sun.
