IN THE CARE OF
Murphy Funeral Homes
Edward Alfred Weiss, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away comfortably on April 12th, age 64, surrounded by family and friends. A talented photographer and videographer, a lover of music and avid reader of the Washington Post, especially the comics and obituaries, a cyclist, soccer player, disc jockey and prankster. We watched Judge Judy, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, we laughed and laughed some more.
Ed lived his entire adult life with multiple sclerosis, teaching us about courage, dignity and grace, with a remarkably positive outlook in the face of tremendous adversity, always with a smile on his face, using humor and optimism to be better than his most difficult circumstances.
Ed was the consummate gentleman, the bonding life force that brought together a large, sprawling, loving family, who made new friends in the everyday places, brightening the day of all those fortunate enough to know and love him. He inspired us, and our lives are better because we knew him.
We thank Ed’s remarkably dedicated support team: John the prodigal son, Justin, Armstrong, Rodney, Yassoukaye, Carlos and countless others – the unsung heroes whose loyalty and hard work enabled Ed to live his best, most independent life. We thank the staff at the Alta Vista and Ruchika and the team at the Endependence Center of Northern Virginia, and Tahai and Zee and the team at Dan & Brad’s, who loved Ed and whose days were brightened by his presence.
Ed joins his father, Alfred, and will be missed by his mother Rozanne, his siblings Rick, Ronnie, Janine, Paul, Jackie & Michael, and nieces and nephews near and far. We are all better for having been part of Ed’s life. We will miss him every day.
A celebration of life will be held at Dan & Brad’s at the Ballston Hilton, 4:00 pm in Arlington, VA on Friday, April 28th. Ed’s ashes will be interred at Mount Lebanon cemetery in Queens, NY at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Endependence Center of Northern Virginia https://www.ecnv.org/donate/
