Anne Tyler Stuckeydied peacefully onSeptember 17, 2017inArlington, VAat the age of92, surrounded by her family.
Annewas born onOctober 28, 1924inWashington, D.C.toLouise Pitney Smith and Edward Moon Tyler.Shegraduated fromFalls Church High Schoolin1942 and then attended Saint Mary’s College in Raleigh, NC.
After college,Anneworked atBuckingham Studio in Arlington, VA, where she met a handsome young photographer by the name of Lynn Stuckey. Anne and Lynn had their first date in February of 1944 and were married shortly thereafter on September 30, 1944. Together they opened Stuckey Studio.WithAnneas thebusiness manager and Lynnasthe artistic photographer, their business flourished in the NorthernVirginiaarea. Anne later enjoyed working as a switchboard operator at Northern Virginia Doctor’s Hospital for many years. Shewas also an active volunteer of theIdylwood Presbyterian Church in Falls Churchand the Virginia Hospital Center Auxiliary in Arlington.
Above all else, shewas very passionate and dedicated to her family and friends.Anne's favorite time was that spent with her family and shealwaysmade the holidays, especially Christmas, a special time. Her children and grandchildren will cherish their memories of summervacationsspent with Anne and Lynn at RehobothBeach, DE.
Anneis survived by:her loving daughters Elaine Gibson of North Potomac, MD and Deborah Kurylo of Falls Church, VA.; grandchildren Cynthia Gibson, Susan Mentus, Robin Wood, Stephanie Kurylo, and Stephen Kurylo Jr.; and four great-grandchildren Kaycee and Owen Mentus and Alexandra and Ethan Wood, as well as numerous relatives and friends.Sheis preceded in death byher husband of 53 years Lynn Stuckey and her sister Francis Tabler.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22atMurphy Funeral Home in Arlington, VA. Visitation will be from10:00-11:00 a.m.with the service afterwards at11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrateAnne's life.
