Sandra is predeceased by her father, Charles Roberts. She is survived by her husband, Michael, children Thomas, Dorian, Tristan, Tanyon, and Doremi, grandchildren Charles and Parker, mother Glenda Sue, and sister Allison.
Sandra was born on November 8, 1962 just outside Chicago, IL, but she spent the majority of her childhood in San Antonio, TX. She was an accomplished synchronized swimmer throughout high school. Sandra was a two-time Texas All-State saxophonist, and played lead alto sax in the first TMEA All State Jazz band (beating her future husband out of that seat!). She continued as a Jazz Studies Major at the University of North Texas, performing in Leon Breeden’s last Jazz Band before his retirement from UNT. Later, changing her major to education, she earned degrees in both Math and English, along with a Lifetime Teaching Certification.
Sandra was passionate about teaching, and she took immense pride in the work of her students over the course of her 32-year teaching career. She taught in Public schools, Private Schools, and then Founded “Home School Support Services” where she first home schooled her four youngest children. She then went on to home school aspiring young ballerinas (like her daughter, Dorian), so they could attend professional dance classes that were only offered during the traditional school day. She later expanded this service teaching talented young children, K-12, in her home. She touched the lives of hundreds of students in that time, and she never stopped thinking about how she could help those students prepare for their educational milestones and beyond.
Sandra met Michael in San Antonio in 1986, and they got married in 1993. For her family, she always tried to provide for them to the best of her ability. She always wanted the best for her children. As her children grew up and started building their own lives, she would brag to her friends endlessly about their accomplishments and her brilliant grandchildren. Her dry and sometimes inappropriate sense of humor could make you spit out your drink or pee your pants, and she was extremely proud of her childrens' ability to do the same for her.
In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate donations to the Texas Girls' Choir in Fort Worth, Texas.
