Her spirit of courage and integrity, the sound of her laughter, the twinkle in her eyes and boundless humor will live in our hearts forever. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of many and was always proud of being full-blooded Cherokee Indian, being born of humble roots in Bladen County, N.C., always living life to the fullest of her ability. When most considered retirement, Rose continued to work at Lone Star Park in food service, attaining awards for her loyalty and hard work ethic as well as being a loving foster parent for the mentally disabled. We will love and miss her always!
Survivors: Immediate family survivors include five sisters and a brother; husband, former Green Beret Sgt. Maj. Jim Romero; daughter, Anne Santee; sons, Robert Bjertness and James and Steven Romero. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Christina, Brandon and Connor Santee, Dallas and Carina Bjertness, and Amanda, Alexis, Addison and Andrea Romero. Her best and most devoted friend, Joan "Joanie" Weekley, stuck by her side until the very end.
