Patsy Gideons Andrews, age 90, passed into heaven on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. She was born on September 16,1934 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to her parents Patrick Gideons and Ruthie May Mahathy. She lived in DeQuincy until the age of 18. She attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri after high school, graduating in 1956. She met a Connecticut Yankee, Walter T. Andrews, while enrolled in college and they were married in 1955. To the best of her ability, she quickly made a Southern boy out of him! Her life of service as a pastor's wife began soon after Walt graduated from college in 1957. They served together in many places across the eastern half of the United States - from east Texas all the way to Flint, Michigan, with many stops in between.
Patsy was a special woman with many God-given talents. She was a fabulous artist, seamstress, cake decorator, schoolteacher, Good News Club leader, organizer extraordinaire, Bible teacher, pianist, organist, accordionist, singer and so much more. Her love for the Lord was shown through her life and example. She wanted everyone in the room to feel loved and seen. She led many to the Lord through her lifetime, including both of her daughters.
Her legacy will live on through the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind many wonderful stories of years gone by as a child of a railroad worker and her trips on the train, dining on fried chicken her mother had packed in a shoe box for the journey, as well as other memories of her 60 plus years of ministry. Her daughters will never eat a chicken nugget or Kentucky Fried chicken without laughing about all that has been consumed over the past 12 years!
She is predeceased by her husband, Walter T. Andrews, parents, Pat and Ruthie Gideons, brothers, Howard, Lloyd (Clessie), Wallace, Kendall (Pauline) and her sister Hazel Gideons.
Survivors include daughters Paula Boegner (Dan) and daughter Dannah Andrews, granddaughter, Danielle Elkins (Drake), grandson Tyler Boegner (Jordan) and great-grandsons Greyson and Asher Elkins. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Frankie Gideons and numerous nieces and nephews, treasured lifelong friend, Kathleen Chambers and the body of believers across the US who made her feel loved and seen.
The family would like to acknowledge some special people from Trinity Baptist who have gone above and beyond to be a help to the family. Thank you to Tina Villa, Frances Eastwood, Lane and Michelle McCall and most especially Becky Koenig and her mother Claire Sells. Becky has been an angel sent from God to help the family during this difficult time.
