Mary Beth graduated from DePauw University in Indiana. Following graduation she went to work in various management positions, including 35 years with JCPenney. She was a longtime member of Arlington Women’s Club supporting social and civic concerns in the community. Her dedication garnered recognition from the Women’s Shelter in 1997 for her volunteer efforts. She was also awarded The Cooper Award from the Arlington Women’s Club in 2009. She enjoyed car trips, was an avid Bridge player, and tireless supporter of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Paul Stern. She is survived by her daughter Jann Okerlund and her wife Beth Harper; son John Okerlund and his girlfriend Twila Baker; step-sons Larry Stern and Michael Stern and his wife Debra; and grandchildren Joshua and Hannah Stern.
Services will be held on Friday, 9/21 at 10:00 a.m. at New World United Methodist Church at 2201 Davis Dr; Arlington, TX 76012. Burial will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens. In Celebration of the Life of this sports fan, everyone is encouraged to wear their “Game Day Best” including jerseys and other team wear.
