Lou Ella Anderson peacefully passed away on September 23, 2018, with her loving family by her side.
Lou Ella Recer Anderson, also known as Mamalou or Mammoo, was born to Will and Nan Recer, in Climax, Texas on April 24, 1922.
Lou was a graduate of Farmersville High School. She met the love of her life, J.C. Anderson, during the winter of 1938 and later married him. They were married for a solid, 73 years and had four lovely children. Lou was a proud homemaker to three boys and a girl. It was during that time that Lou began crafting her culinary and sewing skills.
During her healthy 96 year stint, Lou enjoyed a variety of activities such as needle point, traveling, gardening, weekends at Cedar Creek Lake, reading the Bible, singing hymns, cooking, sewing and creating relationships with people. She was a loyal and charter member of Burbank Gardens Church of Christ. Later, she joined Freetown Road Church of Christ.
During her forties, Lou worked in the administrative department at John Adams Middle School, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She titled many roles such as teacher’s aid, office assistant and later served as a “lunch lady” at Grand Prairie High School. It was during these years that “Lou” became the peoples "Mama Lou.” According to close friends and family, Lou was the world’s best cook with mouth-watering dishes such as fried salmon patties, black berry cobbler, roast and her famous fried okra.
She is survived by her children: Daughter-in-law, Rita Anderson, Wayne Anderson and wife Carla, Terry Anderson and wife Winnie, Debbie Johnson and husband Brent. Grandchildren: Scott Anderson and wife Annette, Shelly Cook and husband Michael, Angi Abercrombie and husband Carter, Rocky Anderson and fiance, Michelle, Bryan Johnson and wife Emily, Gary Wayne Anderson, Brooke Schuster and husband Brian and Jared Anderson. Great grandchildren: Brandon Anderson, Austin Anderson and fiance Katie, Amber Parsons and husband Jerrad, Alec Singletary and husband Mike, Presley Abercrombie, Cason and Drew Johnson, Matrix Anderson, Brynnley and Bree Schuster. Great-great grandson: Paxton Singletary.
She is preceded in death by her husband J.C. Anderson; son, J.C. "Jack" Anderson Jr; and grandson, Barrett Wayne Johnson.
Visitation will be held October 1, 2018, from 12:00 PM – 12:45PM, at Freetown Road Church of Christ, 1038 Freetown Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75051. A Celebration of Mama Lou’s life will follow at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will take place at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012 at 3:00 PM.
