

Guadalupe Lara Diaz passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010. Services: Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 pm with a 7 pm Rosary, Wednesday, July 28, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: DFW National Cemetery. Guadalupe was born on June 19, 1934 in Knippa, Texas, the eldest of seven brothers and one sister. The family soon moved to Uvalde. He left for the Air Force at age 17 and soon saw action in the Korean conflict. Returning to Uvalde on a short trip in 1954 to marry his bride of now 56 years, Soila, on New Year's Day. He trained as an MP but found his calling as a radar technician working on state of the art defense projects. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War earning the Bronze Star in 1968 and participated in the Air America Operation. He retired at the highest NCO rank of Master Sargeant in 1972. He worked for RCA Corporation until it became a part of GE, for his entire civilian career. He worked on the front lines of technology from teletype equipment to large scale computer networks. He found his passion for service most notably through the Knights of Columbus. His dedication to helping others endures from decades of tireless service and a living embodiment of the Knight's mission. Preceded in death by; parents, Sarah and Gabriel; brothers, Juan, Raul and Role. Survivors: wife, Soila (Sally); daughter, Analisa Gabriel; son, Adrian Diaz; daughter-in-law, Lorie; brothers, Bill, Kike, Gabriel, Joe; sister, Irene; grandchildren, Jeremy, Raef, Gabrielle; and loyal companions Auzzy and Chiquita.
