Gerri Holloway was born on May 7, 1948 in Star City Arkansas, the youngest of 5 children to George and Lucille Holloway. Accepting Christ at an early age, she always kept the love of the Lord close to her heart.
At the age of 17 she and her family migrated to Oakland, California where she attended Castlemont High School and then Samuel L. Meritt College, receiving her Associate's degree leading to employment with the Social Security Administration and later the Internal Revenue Service. In 1966, she met the love of her life, Robert Taylor, at Scotties Night Club and they married two years later. Shortly after that, they had their first child, Tremise, and then they moved to Newark, CA, buying their first home where they had two more children, Robert and Tonya. She enjoyed raising them and expanding to a larger home, having family parties, playing Pokeno, bowling, Bible study and attending church at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist and later The International Church of Christ.
After 30 years as a Federal employee, Gerri retired early along with her husband and the two moved to Arlington, Texas to happily spend time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends, watching sports and eating good food and relaxing until her call to Heaven.
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Robert Taylor Sr.; her children, Tremise Taylor-Bittaye, Tonya Taylor-Long, and Robert Taylor Jr.; grandchildren, Marquis Taylor, Genero Long Jr., Tsai Taylor, Gerrico Long, Razi Taylor, Zayd Taylor, Abdou Malick Bittaye and Sari Taylor Son; son-in-law Genero Long Sr.; daughter-in-law, Kim Ryan-Taylor; and a host of very special cousins, nieces, nephews whom she loves so very much.
Gerri is known as a spiritually rich, kind, generous, fun loving person you can talk to about anything and everything. She is a special lady and will physically be missed and her spirit will live in our hearts and minds for eternity.
