Trudie Elizabeth Harris of Arlington Tx passed away April 1, 2023. She was 92 years old.
Elizabeth was born in Cleburne, Texas on March 22,1931 to Finis & Jessie Epperson. She had an older brother Arnold and younger sister Joan. Elizabeth graduated from Cleburne High School then moved to Arlington to attend North Texas Agricultural College. While a student, she lived with Pastor Dickie of the First Presbyterian Church and his family. She was the church organist and office receptionist. She later moved to San Antonio, Texas, to attend Trinity University where she earned a bachelor of music degree. Upon graduating, she returned to Arlington for her first teaching assignment as music teacher at South Side Elementary School. She soon met O’Neil Harris, a coach and teacher there. They married on April 2, 1953. Elizabeth continued to teach at South Side until they began their family. She was a stay at home mom for 12 years raising their three children and faithfully attending First Presbyterian Church. In 1968, she returned to teaching at Duff Elementary where she taught second grade until 1995 retiring midyear to care for her terminally ill mother until her death in August of 1996. She then turned her full attention to her children & grandchildren. She also continued to serve at First Presbyterian Church in various capacities, volunteered at Arlington Memorial Hospital & regularly attended Women of Rotary. She later lovingly devoted herself to the care of O'Neil during his struggle with Alzemier’s disease enabling him to remain in their home until his death in December of 2011. She lived the remainder of her life dedicating herself to God, her family and friends.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband O’Neil Harris, her parents Finis and Jessie Epperson, her brother Arnold Epperson & sister Joan Browder.
Elizabeth is survived by her three children Melody Sosa, Rebecca Harris and Don Harris and wife Brenda; grandchildren Jason Hodges, Brandon Hodges and wife Tiffany, Shannon Weaver and husband Jason, Stephen Sosa, Jacob, Aaron and Nicole Harris, Jessie Harris and wife Niki, Corrie Harris; great grandchildren Mariah, Anthony, Alexis, Michael and Elizabeth Hodges, Atticus Weaver, Kolton and Ryder Sosa, August, Adelynn, Josie and Wrenn Harris, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington on April 29 at 1:00pm.
A celebration of life for Elizabeth will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington, 1200 S Collins St, Arlington, TX 76010.
