Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ed was born on Oct. 9, 1926, in Hammond, La., to W.F. and Irene Erwin Watts.
He attended Northwest Church of Christ in Arlington. In past years he taught Bible classes, served as a deacon and later as an elder. He also worked in the prison ministry.
Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He went on to graduate from Louisiana Tech University in 1957 with degree in civil engineering and later, he earned a degree in structural engineering.
Ed lived in Texas most of his adult life. He worked as a civil and structural engineer and owned his own consulting firm. He was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.
In the past, Ed served as a chairman of the City Planning Commission for Baker, La., and as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fort Worth Christian School.
Ed had a very positive outlook on life and looked for the good in people. He had a great sense of humor. His strength of character and faith helped him through many adversities. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He still lived an active life and seems to have passed from this life too soon.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Frankie Watts.
Survivors: Wife, Betty Watts; son, Eddie Watts and wife, Susan; daughter, Nancy Watts; brothers, Frederick Watts and Hunter Watts and wife, Virginia; sister, Maxine Morgan; along with several nieces and nephews.
