Edna Elizabeth Hardin, the only child of John Henry Hardin and Hattie Mae (Murray) Hardin, was born in Tahoka, Texas on July 16, 1927 and passed into the arms of her Savior on Friday, February 3, 2023 at her home in Arlington, Texas.
After graduating high school in Vicksburg, MS, Edna moved with her parents to Grand Prairie, Texas and in August of 1946 she began her 45+ year career with Magnolia Petroleum/Mobile Oil Co. as an accountant.
During that time Edna was caregiver for her parents until their passing. She took night classes in Psychology, Art, Speech, English and Accounting at UTA and found her passion for traveling. She traveled to Japan, visiting Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore, then China and Korea. Next she traveled to England, Wales and Scotland. The next year her travels took her to Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The last of her over seas travels took her to Greece, Egypt, the Greek Islands and Turkey. She did manage to make it to Alaska and Hawaii.
Edna moved to Arlington in 1993 to begin a new chapter in her life, making new friends and traveling in the other 48 states.
For the past 12 years, due to health problems, Edna’s cousin, Hazel Murray Edwards became not only her caregiver but her companion, best friend and traveling buddy.
Edna was never one to let anything go that anyone ever gave her. She loved music and poetry and could still recite several poems she learned in school. She had an infectious laugh and sparkling eyes.
Edna leaves behind to cherish her memories several cousins, life long friends Betty Jo Meadows and April Woodall and 6 special “Angels” who loved and cared for Edna these past 2 months, Lisa Simmons, Juanetta Tave, Margaret Geeslin, Gena Geeslin, Dominique Parker and Sabrina Cahill.
Preceding Edna in death are her parents and cousin, Hazel Murray Edwards, November 27, 2022.
Special thanks to Elara Care Hospice for their guidance and comfort
