In his early years, David was very active in the Boy Scouts, earning his Eagle Scout. Following college, he married the love of his life, Gay Dalton. He later enlisted in the US Army where he served honorably. After working 30 years for Vought Corporation, he retired at age 55.
David was always known as a handyman, building his daughter a playhouse complete with electricity. He also loved to attend high school sports, eating Mom’s Cake, and looking over his fields of cotton, wheat and guar. Above all, he enjoyed family reunions and time with his family.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Lake. He is survived by his wife Gay; daughter Elizabeth Denton; sons Donny Denton (Chrisy) and Danny Denton (DeLynn); grandchildren Shelby Denton, Chris Denton, Allison Halter (Jake) and Andrew Denton; one great-grandchild on the way; sisters Lois Bruton and Lou Vail (Jack); brothers A.P. Denton (Kay) and Burt Denton (Nancy): and brother in law Bob Lake; as well as many other loving family members and friends who will miss him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, 10/15, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, 10/16, at 11:00 a.m. also at Moore Funeral Home. Committal will follow in Moore Memorial Gardens.
