He was born December 25, 1937, in Priddy, TX and is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister: Hattie B, Coleman Franklin, and Patsy Elkins.
Buddy served in the Navy Reserve for eight years, after which he worked at LTV/Vought/Lockheed Martin for over 40 years as an engineer. He helped work on the automated transit system at DFW Airport and was a part of teams that worked high profile government contracts, both of which he took great pride in.
Buddy was a member of the Fort Worth Cactus and Succulent Society where he shared his passion of caring for, learning, and spreading his wealth of knowledge of plants. Buddy and Martha loved to travel to Hawaii together, getting away from it all and enjoying time together in the beautiful tropical paradise. It truly was his home away from home, his happy place here on earth. He would always return with gifts for family and friends, the most sought after being the plumeria cuttings he would spend hours meticulously cleaning in order to get them to their new home.
Buddy had many other hobbies that brought joy to his life which included collecting and hunting for unique rocks, crystals, and seashells; always on the hunt for the next big find and enjoying the company of family while doing so. His precious pups, Mama Harley, Charlie, Scooter, and Lelani were very near and dear to him and were by his side until the end.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, September 24 from 5-7 PM at Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas. Funeral and burial service will be on Saturday, September 25 at 12 PM at Moore Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas. Services will be followed by a Celebration of Life service and lunch at the Ruthe Jackson Center in Grand Prairie, Texas from 2-6 PM. Flowers and plants are more than welcome, but a contribution to a cause near and dear to Buddy would be appreciated as well. Donations can be made to the Cactus and Succulent Society of America or American Diabetes Association Research Foundation.
