Dr. Riley had practiced veterinary medicine since 1944, and had done so in Fort Worth since 1964 at Ridgmar West Animal Hospital. In 1978, Dr. Riley began practicing side-by-side with his son, Doug, and Dr. Maxwell at Animal Hospital and Clinic of Arlington until he retired and moved to Harlingen. He was past president of both Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association and West Kiwanis Club. Dr. Riley was a co-founder of Fort Worth Tarrant County Animal Foundation and past chairman of Texas A&M Veterinary Development Council. He was primary racing commission veterinarian at Valley Greyhound Park and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors: Dr. Riley is survived by his loving wife, Betty Riley; son, Dr. Doug Riley and wife, Georgia Riley; grandchildren, Shannon Riley DaSilva and husband, Luca DaSilva, Sean Riley and wife, Ashley Riley; great-grandson, Josiah DaSilva; and stepgrandsons, Jason and Jeffrey Guckert.
