Charles Lowe departed this life peacefully at home on October 21, 2021, four days short of his 92nd birthday. He was born on October 25, 1929, and raised in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, the son of Elfrieda and Robert Lowe.
Charlie, as he was affectionately known, lived a full and active life. Throughout his life, his family brought him immense pride and joy and his work, much satisfaction and fulfillment.
Charlie is pre-deceased by his parents and sister, Roberta. He is survived by his loving wife Susan, sister Rita, and children Greg, Stephanie, Jeff, Kim, and Chuck and ten grandchildren, Christopher, Brennen, Trevor, Danielle, Maggie, Ryan, Claire, Anna, Kaitlin and Sarah and stepchildren Jason and Jessica and step granddaughter Ava.
After graduating from Ridgefield Park High School in New Jersey, Charlie received an appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. Here he earned a B.S. Degree, a license in the Merchant Marine and an Ensigns commission in the U.S. Navy. The Navy assigned him to East Asia where he served in Yokohama and Kure, Japan and Inchon, Korea. After his discharge he worked for Union Carbide in the Northeast and received his MBA Degree from UCONN.
Charlie settled in Martinsville, New Jersey, to raise his family and worked as an executive in the Plastics industry throughout his career.
Charlie and Susan married in 1989 and moved to Arlington, Texas shortly thereafter. He continued working for several years and then retired in 1998. Not one to ever sit still for long, Charlie continued to live an energetic lifestyle enjoying time with family, playing tennis, golf, reading, traveling and his favorite drink – a Manhattan. He also performed volunteer work as an Ambassador at the DFW Airport, the Bass Performance Hall, and at Charles Schwab.
Charlie’s desire was not to have a funeral service but that a celebration of his life to be held sometime in the future. Any tribute to his memory can be directed to either the Autism Speaks or the Juvenile Diabetes Organizations.
