The Lord Jesus Christ welcomed Archie Byron Robertson, Jr. to his final home in heaven on October 24, 2024. His dearly beloved wife, Patsy Ruth Savage Robertson, went before Archie on May 11, 2023. Archie is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lynelle (Jim) Richardson, Leawood, KS, and Lena Carol (Don) Gibson, Murphy, TX, as well as several nephews and nieces and their offsprings.
Archie was born on April 24, 1934, in Joaquin, TX. In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, Archie is also preceded in death by his parents, Archie Byron Robertson, Sr. and Eula Etta Joplin Robertson, Tenaha, TX, and three sisters, Barbara (Wendell) Wood, Milledgeville, GA, Nancy (Dale) Thrasher, Conroe, TX, and Reecie (Bobby) Stanley, Center, TX.
Archie grew up attending Southside Baptist Church, Shreveport, La, where at the age of seventeen he gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School, Shreveport, LA, in 1951, and was a member of the ROTC. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree at East Texas Baptist College, Marshall, Tx, in 1955. After six years of service to our country, Archie received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1962, at which time he attended Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, TX, where he received his Master of Arts degree in 1963.
After completing his education, he taught History at Kilgore High School for two years before moving to Houston, TX, where throughout his career he was employed by various organizations such as Southern Pacific Railroad, Manchester Railroad, NASA Houston, GW Murphy Wholesale, and Reed Roller Bit Houston, before retiring after 31 years with Cummins Diesel Engines, Houston, TX.
Archie and Patsy were faithful and active members of Faith Springs Baptist Church, Pearland, TX, (formerly Park Place Baptist Church), where they both served in various capacities toward the growth of the church. It was at Park Place Baptist where they first met and fell in love. They were both avid Houston Astros and Texas Rangers fans.
It was the desire of both Archie and Pat to have a joint, private family service at their memorial garden located in Wimberly, TX.
