Marguerite H. “Peggy” Reynolds (nee McCarthy), age 90, was born on February 20, 1927, in Yonkers, New York, and passed away, January 16, 2018, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, IL. Peggy, who grew up in New York and then Milford, Connecticut, married Walter A. Reynolds Jr. on June 21, 1947, and raised a family in New York. In 1962, due to her husband’s job transfer, she moved to Glenview, Illinois with her husband and five children. She subsequently resided in Arlington Heights, Wheeling and Hawthorn Woods. Peggy was a devoted wife, exceptional homemaker, dedicated, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, who, later in life, worked in retail customer service, in Buffalo Grove, IL. She was a devout Irish-Catholic, and an avid Cubs fan, who loved extended-family gatherings, crossword puzzles, card playing, reading, watching classic movies and TV shows, Big-Band-era music, along with sports, cooking, holidays, Portillo’s Hot Dogs and the Chicken Marsala at Olive Garden.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL, from 9:30 – 11am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am. Indoor chapel service and interment at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, 1185 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine, IL, immediately following the church service.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Walter A. Reynolds Jr., parents, John and Margaret McCarthy (nee Lanigan), baby daughter Margaret Rose Reynolds, sons John and Patrick Reynolds, sisters’-in-law Mary Rose Reynolds, Shirley McCarthy and parents’-in-law Walter Sr. and Rose Reynolds (nee Matyi)
Survivors include son Walter “Wally” Reynolds (Lynn), daughters, Mary Berwanger (Paul) and Rosemarie Fagan (Jim), brother John McCarthy, nine grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul), Amy, Katie (Eric), Paul (Julie), Kristina (Curt), Jennifer (Ryan), Bridget, Kelly, James and six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Rylie, Alayna, and Tyler Egan, Avery and Mia Berwanger, plus California niece and nephews, Sharon (Kyle), Kevin (Leslie), Brian (Ann), Colin (Kristie).
In lieu of flowers, it is requested, for those desiring, that donations be made to St. Edna Catholic Church, Arlington Heights, IL.
