John William Dietz of Prospect Heights. John William Dietz, 83, was born July 5, 1929 in Chicago to the late Phillip and Mary Dietz, and passed away peacefully March 10, 2013, at Manor Care in Rolling Meadows. John was the loving husband for 63 years of Lois Jean Dietz (nee Hansa); cherished father of Lynnda (Gary) Upton, Judi Lynn Farley, Jeffrey Dietz, Lisa Sochko, and the late John Dietz; proud and loving grandfather of seven and great grandfather of three; loving brother of seven. John began his career with the Arlington Heights Fire Department on January 1, 1958, and retired as an lieutenant on July 13, 1979. Upon retiring, he started his own excavating company, Prospect Excavating. Visitation Sunday, 3-8 p.m., at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, IL, 60004. Prayers, Monday, 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by funeral Mass, 10 a.m. at St Mary Church, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery.
