She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Marion Gadberry, and is survived by her children: Edward and Karen Gadberry of Arlington Heights, Andrea and Nathan Johnson of Vernon Hills, and Jessica Williams of Hanover Park; her cherished grandchildren Braeden and Nolan Gadberry, Ari and Grey Johnson, and JaQarie, JaNae, and James Williams; her sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Jim Dell Orto, brother-in-law Stanley Munson, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Jerilyn was born and raised in Quincy, IL, the youngest of Kenneth and Grace Loofbourrow’s four children. She attended the University of Illinois, Washington University, and National-Louis University, earning degrees in sociology, social work, and education. She worked for many years as a social worker before pursuing a teaching degree, after which she began a new career at Harper College, teaching English as a second language and serving as international student advisor.
A lifelong volunteer, Jerilyn (Jeri to her friends) helped others everywhere she went. She served in the Peace Corps, served on international mission trips to Haiti and Romania, volunteered at her church and local donation warehouses, and spent many, many hours dedicated to welcoming and assisting newcomers to the United States.

Friends and family will gather for celebration of life services for Jerilyn that will be held at First United Methodist Church in Arlington Heights on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at 3pm.
