It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack William Coughlin on October 4, 2024 at the age of 22: beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend. Jack’s life, while tragically brief, was marked by a great love for family, friends, and the world around him. Jack’s love for life was expressed through his passions, relationships, and enthusiasm for everything he pursued. Jack’s easygoing nature made him approachable, friendly, and the type of person who could make anyone feel at ease.
Born June 28, 2002, Jack was raised in a loving home in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Jack is survived by his parents, Brett Coughlin and Elizabeth Coughlin (Nicholas Freeman); his sisters Kaitlin and Megan Coughlin; his grandmother Alice Coughlin-Ryan; and a large extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins who he loved deeply. Jack’s upbringing in Arlington Heights provided the foundation for his character, familial ties, and active engagement in youth sports.
Athletics, particularly soccer, played a significant role in Jack’s life. From an early age, he gravitated toward sports, using his natural talents to thrive on the field. He played for several local teams during his youth and at Buffalo Grove High School, building lifelong friendships with teammates and earning the respect of coaches and fans alike. As a dedicated athlete, his dedication to teamwork, sportsmanship, and constant improvement made him stand out, and his love for the game was evident in every match he played.
A visitation will be held in honor of Jack on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 AM at St. Edna’s Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
